I am a father. I am a fan of dragons. These are two facts about me. A third fact is that I like to read and review books. A fourth fact is that I’d never considered just how many amazing dragon books there are for kiddos. Now that I have a five-month-old, I’ve been through dozens of children’s books, and I’ve encountered a handful of lovely stories. Consider these my treasure hoard, except unlike many dragons, I’m willing to share!
The Bakery Dragon
Ember the dragon doesn’t have as much gold as the other dragons. Oh no! He sets off to the nearest village, where people fear dragons who steal their treasure. Ember stumbles into a bakery, where he discovers golden loaves of tasty bread. He’s gotta tell his dragon friends about this…
There’s A Dragon In My Book
Oh no! A dragon is flitting about the pages of this book, and it’s up to the reader to stamp out the flames. While my baby is too young to understand most of the concepts, I will cherish the day she understands how to interact with this one.
Strong: There Is More Than One Way To Be…
Maurice is a pretty chill dragon. He doesn’t want to bother with breathing fire or scaring smaller creatures. He just wants to enjoy beautiful flowers. He values gentility and quiet. But is he strong? I think you know the answer, and this book does a fantastic job of painting alternate pictures of strength for kids.
A Strange Bird
In this book, a little red dragon is raised in a nest with birds. He doesn’t understand why he’s different, but he soon learns that differences can be glorious, wonderful things.
Dragons Love Tacos
It’s got dragons. It’s got tacos. It’s got dragons eating tacos. Yum!
